WestNile Sports Club queens were crowned Women’s Uhuru Cup champions after thrashing Ociba ladies 5-0 over the weekend at Arua Police play ground.
West Nile SC queens christened as the “Team of Choice” clinched the Independence Women’s tournament title in an emphatic fashion after brushing aside Ociba Ladies 5-0
Likicho Gatred bagged a magical brace while captain Mercy Ariye, Naimer Phoni and Khadija Amin were all on target to hand the Team of Choice the trophy.
In their first encounter, WestNile Sports Club Queens defeated Synergy FC ladies 2-1 thanks to a magical brace from Likicho Gatred who was eventually crowned the tournament’s best goal scorer with 4 goals in her name.
Sumaya Mustafa bagged an own goal for a consolation goal for Synergy FC Ladies hence denting their title hopes.
By winning two of their games, The Team of Choice were eventually crowned QUEENS of Women’s Uhuru Cup with 6 points after 2 games.
“I’m very happy for the trophy it shows how dedicated this young queens are,” Olema Hamza the club chairman told Dribbler Sports.
“My main ambition is to promote gal child football. In westnile and to aviod gals to get problems in early marriage am read to do the surcrifise to train them i aurge the community to unite and give me support in this via balls and other equipment s we train in arua police grounds this program started in 2019 when lockdown started to keep developing young boys but eventually i chose ladies reason they are being neglected in football especial in arua or westnile at large thanks.”
“Happy i took the ladies in 4 friendlys we never lost any won 2 drew 3 against the u 13 of westnile soccer academmy am happy my ladies improve in each lessions ready to die for them thanks,” he concluded.
Synergy meanwhile finished second with 3 points after two games having beaten Ociba Ladies FC 2-0 on Wednesday evening.
In other results Ociba ladies completed the table in the third place with Zero points having lost all the two games of the tournament.
Heartland FC the fourth club didn’t show up for their fixtures.
The Uhuru Ladies Cup Tournament was organised by ARUA District Football Association (ADFA) and sponsored by 2wembe engineering.
The tournament was played roll of 4 teams where all the teams face each other and the winner takes it all.
For Starters, West Nile Sports Club Queens is a FUFA registered women football club located in Arua City and they train at Arua Police Play Ground.
Christened as The Team Of Choice, The Club was formed in 2019 by Olema Hamza “Hamzata” who also doubles as the head coach of Arua City Football Club with the main aim of promoting girl child football in West Nile and the need to avoid early marriages among girls in West Nile.
