Mbale Heroes Need Penalties To Over Come Gadafi And Progress To The Last 16 Of The Stanbic Uganda Cup

Mbale Heros needed penalty shoot-out to book a last 16 spot following a 1-0 defeat to Gadafi Football Club in regulation time in the second leg of the tournament at Mbale Municipal grounds on Sunday evening.

The Soldier Boys had defeated Mbale Heros 1-0 in the first round of the Stanbic Uganda Cup with Joel Madondo scoring the only goal of the game at Kabazinga stadium on Tuesday evening.

A first half goal from Former Vipers defender Musa Mulunda was all what Mbale Heroes needed to put the game level on aggregate and progress to penalty shoot-outs

Hussein Kheri started his task as Mbale Heros’ head coach on winning ways during the shoot-out as his charges tucked home four efforts with Brian Olega, Peter Otai, Ibrahim Kibumba all on target as Musa Malunda converted the winning kick.

Gadafi scored two penalties from Lawrence Kasadha and Andrew Waiswa were on target while Najib Fesali and Musundaino Ronald missed their penalties as Soldier Boys bow out of the tournament.

Victory means Mbale Heros join Bul, Vipers, Proline, Express, Onduparaka, URA, Villa, UPDF, Bright Stars, Tooro United, Wakiso Giants, KCCA, Police and UPDF FC in the last 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
