Uganda Cubs scored three second half goals to beat Tanzania 3-1 on Tuesday evening at Umuganda Stadium in Rwanda to be crowned 2020 CECAFA U17 champions.
Ivan Irinimbabazi, Travis Mutyaba and Ibrahim Juma were on target for Hamza Lutalo’s side while Vincent Muleme scored pulled one back for Tanzania.
The Cubs opened the lead through Ivan Irinimbabazi when he headed home Vincent Muleme’s cross for 1-0 .
Travis Mutyaba doubled the lead for the Cubs but Tanzania pulled one back courtesy of an own goal from Vincent Muleme for a 2-1.
Ibrahim Juma put the game to bed with a fine penalty just two minutes to stoppage time. This was after Travis Mutyaba was brought down inside the penalty box.
The result saw the Cubs retain the title for the second time in a row and will also represent Uganda at the AFCON U17 in Morocco next year.
