FUFA Big League side Arua Hill Sports Club on Wednesday announced the high-profile capture of Tooro United Football Club captain Mike Kawooya.
The Leopards have already confirmed the signing of Agau Rashid and Dan Birikwalira from Maroons and Vipers respectively and they’ve now confirmed their third signing Mike Kawooya. The defender is from Tooro United Football Club.
He joins on a two-year employment contract that will keep him at Barifa until 2022, the club have confirmed in a statement on their official Facebook page.
” To make the defence more kongolo, we have signed hard tackling former Tooro United captain MIKE KAWOOYA. the center back is kongolo.” reads Club statement.
The 30-year old previously played for Kirinya Jinja SS ( now Busoga United), Busia Fisheries, Water FC, Mutundwe Lions, Kakamega Boyz, BUL Football Club and Tooro United Football Club.
“Dan Birikwalira shared with me about Arua Hill SC, how good the team is, the ambitions and its targets and of course I had to do my background check.” he’s quoted by the Arua Hill Sports Club Facebook page.
“I was inspired by the targets of the club after reading and doing background check about the club, their ambitions were convincing and were in alignment with my dreams.”
“I have been in Big League before and I don’t have a feeling of moving backwards about it and interestingly I’ll tell you, I delight in contributing to promotion of a club.” Kawooya continued.
“On a personal level, I want to inspire the young ones because they will definitely be looking up to me and I am going to work hard here in order to achieve my personal goal of crossing boarders for professional football.” he added.
Arua Hill Sports Club will be under the stewardship of head coach Hussein Mbalangu who will be deputized by Joseph Kiwanuka ahead of the coming FUFA Big League season.
