Onduparaka Football Club fullback Rashid Okocha has signed a new two-year contract with the club, ending speculations linking him to KCCA and BUL FC.
Okocha enjoyed alot of success with the Caterpillars since his move from West Nile Regional League outfit Nebbi Central Football Club in June/27/2017.
The West Nile based outfit announced the latest deal via their official Twitter page on Saturday.
However, there were rumours linking him away from the Club as his contract expired on June this year with Kampala City Council Authority Football Club and Bul FC both showing interest on the versatile defender.
Those rumours have now been put to bed after he put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the club, stating the love for the badge as a major factor in his decision.
The fullback told Caterpillars’ official website, ” I did this to pay back the fans who have trusted me over these years; they have supported me on and off the pitch and I feel I can still do much more for them as a Caterpillar. I am also impressed with the new system the club is trying to adopt and I am really hoping that all this isn’t in vain.“
The quick, versatile player who plays as a left back, but can also be deployed upfront scored the lone goal as West Nile beat Uganda Cranes 1-0 during the Cranes’ Regional tour in 2017.
The Club CEO Edison Shaban believes having alot of new and old players will help improve on the death and balance in the team as they look to prepare a strong squad ahead of the coming season.
” We still have players that were here with us last season, most of them are still contracted and we believe by having a huge squad we can improve the depth and balance in the team. As a club, we aim to have a squad that will have all aspects of the game ranging from experience, talent, zeal and above all Passion for the Onduparaka badge.” Club CEO Shaba.
