Joshua Cheptegei: Ugandan Star Voted Athlete Of The Month By World Athletics.

Ugandan star Joshua Cheptegei has been voted the Athlete of the August by World Athletics body following his triumph in Monaco last month.

Joshua broke Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele’s 16-year old world record when he clocked 12:35.36 in the Diamond League in Monaco, France 

He thanked his followers on Twitter and also remind honoured for winning the World’s best moment of the month.

Joshua beats other nominees including Timothy Cheruiyot who recorded 3:28.45 in 1500m at the Monaco Diamond League, Karsten Warholm and Valeria Allman.

The Ugandan star also recorded 10km world record previously held by Leonard Patrick Komon of Kenya, which he improved by six seconds on the road with a time of 26 minutes and 38 seconds.
